Money As Debt….

Standard

In light of the current fiasco surrounding Northern Rock, back in the UK and banking, mortgages and loans problems, I thought I’d post an interesting video I saw, which certainly sheds some light on the whole banking industry.

So, do yourself a favour, make yourself a cup of tea, free up 45 mins (let’s face it, your favourite soap probably takes 30mins, plus ads…), and see how the whole money industry works and why they aren’t going to be teaching kids the “system” in schools….

How smart is Your Right Foot?….

Standard

Just try this. It is from an orthopedic surgeon…

You will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can’t. It’s pre-programmed in your brain!

1. While sitting where you are at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number ‘6’ in the air with your right Hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so!!! And there’s nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try it again, if you’ve not already done so.

M

And so, to the game…..

Standard

At last, the night was here, let the game commence…..

The Teams

It was missing something as the game kicked off, was it the cheering, the TV commentary maybe? Who knows, but it was quiet. I’ve been to ice hockey matches were it’s been noisy as anything. As the game went on, the crowd got into it a little more.

Golden Balls....

Free Kicks....

As far as playing went, well, pretty poor in comparison. I know it was a friendly, but Beckham was certainly not getting stuck in, an upcoming game for England may have been on his mind after his recent injuries, nor where the teams really. He did get a couple of his specialty free kick positions, but couldn’t make anything of them. It was just going through the motions. When Becks went off after 75mins, the game lifted a little For me, Vancouver Whitecaps were the better team, but a Sunday league team from London would have given both teams a run for their money.

The biggest cheer of the night went to an unexpected streaker who managed a full lap in just his socks and shoes before being clumsily tackled by a female security guard and escorted from the pitch with a coat covering his manhood.

It's HIM!!!!....

The biggest boo was for the announcer when he asked the crowd to return the balls when they got kicked into the crowd. "They will be retrieved by security if you fail to do so….."!!!!

It's him, again!!!!....

Was it worth the cash? The kids enjoyed it, you wouldn’t get to see Beckham for the little in the UK, that’s for sure, so in that respect, it was. But as far as a good game went…. well, that’s another matter.

Vancouver….

Standard

We’re out of the valley and in the “big smoke”, for a few days! Finally….

Looking North

It’s Tuesday night, we just got into town, 11pm’ish, staying at a Best Western, in Downtown Vancouver. Everyone is excited about the soccer/footie game tomorrow night. The WiFi is working in the room, obviously….

These are the first 2 shots from the hotel room. The Vancouver skyline is great, always reminds me of scenes from Blade Runner.

Looking East....

It is good to be in the city again. It’s buzzing….

Ouch!….

Standard

We got the bandage off last night, to see the damage….

Mind you, she’s gone off to work this morning, not limping or hobbling anywhere near as much. It’s still pretty sore, but she’s fairly mobile.

Which is useful, she’s got to climb up to the seats at the BC Stadium tomorrow. Or get David Beckham to carry her up, she says

Injured Mutha……

Standard

So, we’ve been here 2 and a bit years, she has her permanent residence status finally, allowing us to get her on the family coverage, finally, the forms are on their way to get her on the medical plan, finally, so we have had no need to make any insurance claims on our health insurance for her.

We were so close…. and then….. with the Rolling Stones blaring out, and a mother dancing with her daughter….

Injured Mutha 1.....

Somehow, as Jumpin Jack Flash was blaring out, she managed to catch her right heel on one of the kitchen cupboards, splitting her heel wide open! So much in fact, that you could see the Achilles Tendon part. So, at 9.30pm, we packed up bits and pieces for the kids to do and set off for Kelowna General. What better way to spend a Friday night…..

Injured Mutha 2.....

8 stitches later, with the 2 doctors making light of how someone could achieve a wound as deep by dancing, although saying she was lucky not to have damaged her Achilles bit, and we were all done and out in about an hour, which was good. All 4 of us have now made use of the city hospital since we’ve been here! (I think we’ve seen more of the hospital here in the last 2 years than the entire 10 combined.)

Needless to say, she’s a bit sore this morning and hobbling around. We have had an eventful week, eh….

Halloween….

Standard

So, finally, I was able to get out with the kids, to go trick or treating. What better way to do it, than to throw yourself in at the deep end and get into the spirit of the thing, so to speak….

Trick of Treating 5

Someone said I looked like some kind of Grim Reaper, behind me in the photo, is a friend of ours, dressed as "The Clown", who said abolutley nothing when spoken too, simply waved, or as we were telling children and parents, "my father".

Trick of Treating 4

Much hilarity ensued, as one can imagine, we were out for around 2 hours, there were kids and parents everywher, with houses adorned with pumpkins, ghosts and ghouls of every nature. Everywhere you looked people where getting into the spirit of fun, with bags of candy and treats for kids. Ours went out with a pillow case each and like last year came back with it stuffed with all manner of stuff, from sweets and crisps to pens and calculators!

Trick of Treating 3

(Me and the missus, true love, you can tell, you can see it in the eyes…..)

Then back home for a few beers, some wine and a great cheesecake that our friends brought round, mixed with some deep discussions. All round a damn good night. They finally left us around 11pm and we finally got to bed around midnight, still buzzing. As we said afterwards, everyone was happy, the kids were content with the treats they got, nothing fancy, we all had great fun….. why can’t we all say the same about christmas?……

I can’t wait for next year now, got to get my mind in gear for my next costume.
